Indonesia’s police have arrested five people for poisoning their babies with the powerful medicine of the king, officials said.
The health ministry says it had received reports of four babies poisoned by the medicine, known as borage, from four villages in Kuta district, the capital of the North Sumatra province.
The ministry says there was no evidence of any other poisoning.
Indonesia has a poor infant mortality rate and is also home to the world’s most deadly mosquito, which is responsible for about half of all mosquito-borne cases in the country.
The BBC’s Ben Smith reports from Jakarta.
